Kickoff PDX

Thanks to all the organizers, workers, and drivers for a successful, fantastic inaugural PDX!  As always, it ran amazingly smoothly, and it seemed like everyone had a good time.  Everyone, returning or new, seemed to get into a good groove from the beginning.

Despite blowing a PS hose on my last run, I had a blast, improved several problem turns, picked it up a notch, and got signed off to run solo.  Special thanks to Dick, Ron, and Don for helping me fix the car.  I have no idea why I tucked a quart of Mercron in my ditty bag this trip, but boy am I glad I did.

Thanks also to my instructor, Bob Kelly, for the trick on turn 8, and for showing how the esses coming out of the Karousel are supposed to be done.

Can't wait for June on the main track.

Re: Kickoff PDX

Ditto all that!  We had a blast as well.

My car fortunately didn't have any mechanical problems (except for the loose nut behind the steering wheel), but if it did, I'm sure everyone would have helped as much as they could.

Thanks.

Louis

Re: Kickoff PDX

This years events ran as smoothly if not better then the end of last year.  The program is comming together very well and the students and instructors did a great job on keeping it in the limits.

I was very happy with the turnout of the event and I do like the modification of the schedule to give the instructors a chance to show the lower level students the track at a lower rate of speed where you have a chance to discuss the track and the corners that come flying at them during a normal at speed session.

Re: Kickoff PDX

From the other side of the coin, I would like to thank the drivers and their instructors for making this perhaps the most boring event - from a corner worker's perspective - I've ever worked. As a driver first, and worker second, any day I can stand on a corner all day and never have to waive a flag is a very good day. Unless I'm mistaken I think we only had one incident (spin in T2) all day, and everybody went home with the sheet metal (or fiberglass as it may be) intact. Nicely done, ladies & gentlemen.
