When I said my understanding is harness bars are more angerous that was by themselves, not as part of a cage or roll bar. The person's reasoning was the OEM seat belt will allow your head and neck to move so in the event of roll over it could move and not be as likely to be crushed compared to a harness attached to a harness bar alone. His idea was go with a roll bar/cage if you were going with a harness. My car is mostly a street car but do want some extra safetly on the occasions I go to the track. That was my reasoning to get a harness but dpon't want the aggrevation of climbing over a 8 point cage to get in and out on a routine basis. Hince the 4 point idea.
My car (2007 Shelby GT) is my weekend, show, track car. One reason I wanted a roll bar with a harness mount is because my instructor "Bill Davis" recommented a harness to keep me from moving in the seat. After seeing a video of an 07 mustang GT rolling over on turn 9, I think a 4 point roll bar is a good idea. The roll bar that I am having installed will be a 4 point welded in with a cross brace. My car is a work in progress. safety first, performance later.
