New track in northeastern NC

The new North Carolina Center for Automotive Research www.nccar.us is holding it's firat public events in April. The first is a HPDE by NASA-SE on April 10/11 and PCA comes in the next weekend for a drivers school. It is located just off I-95 at exit 176 just a few miles south of the NC / VA border. Phase one is complete with a 2.02 mile test rack which will expand to over 4 miles eventually. This is a state supported research center primarily, but will also be used by amateur motorsport clubs. One of the best features of this facility is how convenient it is to so many major population centers on the east coast and the availablity of resturants, motels, shopping, auto service and parts within two miles of the facility. Here's a couple of videos I made last week. One from a Miata and the other from a vintage Formula Ford. Corner stations, barriers, a few guard rails and tire walls have been installed in the last week.  Miata:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbz4U5FkPZU   Caldwell D9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0edbELrM1Cw&feature=related
