Yeah, I was thinking about a less expensive car to start out with in my rookie year. I think I'm pretty aggressive, but I need more races to prove to myself what I can do. I had the one mock race at the SCCA school, and I finished first in class and second overall. That was a blast!
I'll see what funding I get and that will determine what I will run.

In my opinion, you are better off starting with a slow, cheap and reliable car.
The slower the car, the lower its limits, and the easier time you have keeping the car near them. The best drivers are dancing the car near the limits all the time. If you start in a F/A or GT1 car, when it exceeds the limits, it will do so so quickly you won't know what happened.
You are much more likely to crash starting out. So that is where the cheap comes in.
It had better be reliable too. You don't get seat time if your car sits out sessions.
True - I've decided on a miata for the first year. I'll run the PDX with my vette. Done deal. I'm sure it will be a fun year! Can't wait...
