I am interested to know a few things about the actual race weekends at Summit. I was told (in the pit crew class at the last school) about the general layout of the paddock during races. I understand space is very limited and would like to know if there is room to keep a trailer/mobile garage near the race car or not.
Also interested to know how one goes about getting a camping/RV space at the track - is there a reservation system (I didnt see such a beast on the Summit site)? Is that worked through Summit or the SCCA?
Last, does anyone have a sample schedule of a previous race weekend? What tends to happen when?
Thanks alot from someone very new at this!

Jenn - yes, space is pretty limited but you can have a large trailer in your paddock - you will see more than a few of them at any MARRS event. There are certain areas of the paddock that are reserved for the different classes (there is a reserved paddock map under the MARRS section of this website), but other than that you can set up wherever you find the space. I would suggest coming up early Friday morning for the best chance of finding a good spot; but even then many drivers will have come up early and roped off an area for a group of cars. As far as camping, there aren't any spaces reserved for driver camping; I think most people just squeeze their campers into their paddock space (I believe the typical paddock it 20' X 40' - correct me if I'm wrong guys).
As for a schedule, you would have to look at the supps for a race weekend, but typically they will have two qualifying sessions on Saturday, in the order of the race groups (which can also be found under the MARRS section), with two hardship practice sessions on Sunday morning and 16-lap MARRS races to follow. Cars usually go on track around 8am or so, and they usually have a one-hour lunch break around noon.
