New to This

Hello, I learned of the DC region website through the SCCA forum, as I am interested in becoming involved in road racing in some capacity, as a track worker volunteer at first, and hopefully take some lessons and eventually driving.  I live right up the road from Summit Point, in Hagerstown, and am new to the area and the whole scene.  I love motorsport and used to go watch races at Mid Ohio back home when I lived in Columbus.  Is the club racing scene alive and well here?  I am looking for advice on getting started and would be more than happy just to watch/learn and lend a hand if that is all that is available at the moment.  How do you recommend I get started in this?

Re: New to This

Your in luck!!!!!!! There is an vernt this weekend 8/2-8/3 att Summit Point. Please feel free to show up. If you are interested in any of the specialties stop by the registration building in the morning (that is the building on the left after you go though the main gate) tell them you are interested in working and they should be able to set you up with the correct people. Even if you are unsure just show up and talk to any of us; we are all mean and nasty. Hope to see you there,

Yeah, come out this weekend and see what it's all about.  I think you will be very impressed!

Re: New to This

I'll be there, looks like fun, I watch some youtube videos of the track, I can't seem to find a version for GTR2.  At the very least I'll come down to spectate, I'll stop by the registration building and ask about being a flag guy.

Re: New to This

If you would, email me at:  flaggerjohn@cs.com   I'll be out there the morning of Saturday, due to a personal commitment, I won't be flagging Saturday but should have sometime to show you around, take you around to the flag stations and introduce you to some of the folks.   You can also call me at (304) 728-0683 if that's easier.  I'll be up at the track around 0800 to 0830 but can always change the times around.
