Re: New to This

Welcome to the area! My husband & I race in Nationals (Mid-O is one our our fav tracks), but volunteer at Summit when it doesn't conflict with our races. We love it and enjoy everyone at the track. I'll be working the grid (I'll be the redhead) and my husband will be flagging. Come say hi and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!

Re: New to This

Thanks Joelle, I will see you there!  Due to work, I won't be there saturday, but will be down early morning sunday, and hopefully will meet Mark (?) to help me with registration office etc etc.  I've pretty much decided the class that i would like to race (someday after I save some money or win the lottery, maybe in a year or two if I am very very very lucky) is the Formula Vee.  I love open wheelers, and this looks affordable to get into, only problem is that I am 6'4" and 235 lbs.  So maybe the next step up, I think it's called Formula First, like a modified FV.  So it was cool to hear that there will be FVs running.  Just gotta find me some nice white pants (I was thinking maybe Pete Townshend-esque painters suit?).

Re: New to This

Didn't see your note(s) until late Friday night. Then on Sunday morning I saw Mark at the gate waiting to meet you. Great! Glad you made it out. I also heard you had a chance to work a corner station on Sunday. Welcome to the group... Looking forward to meeting you and working with you. It is a great first step into the world of racing.

Will you be able to make it out to the Labor Day Double?

Re: New to This

I had a great time, learned a good bit from the folks at the 2 stations I was in, i believe they were both considered part of station 5, the inside and outside (front) of the carousel.  What a surprise when after getting the mini-class (most of which I was familiar with, just not all the hand signs), they plopped me out in the middle of the carousel with Sandy, and lo and behold, 3 laps into my first ever flagging experience, the incident with the blue miata smashing into the wall and catching a nice bit of air right in front of me (I was the yellow flagger).  Nothing like trial by fire, eh (no pun intended)?  I absolutely loved it, everyone was really cool, helpful, not arrogant and was like a big family.  I will be out again for sure, this time as an SCCA member.
