Hey guys, I live in Phoenix, AZ and race in the SRX7 class here. I'm looking at a job in the area (among others on the east coast), but of course I'm scoping out the race community because it will affect where I decide to move :). I was very excited when I saw that you guys have an SRX7 class and quite a few cars! Since this is a regional only class, I'm curious what the rules are, and if my car will meet specs? I tried finding the regions SRX7 rules bud didn't have any luck. Does anyone know where I can find the rules? If not, can someone who knows the rules look at the SoPac region rules and let me know if there is anything that isn't allowed in this region? Here is the link:
http://www.azscca.com/Docs/Regional%20Rules%20and%20Info/SoPac%20SRX7%20Rules%20for%202007.pdf
Thanks in advance!
Sorry for the post before scanning the whole site! I found the doc, and realized you guys are more lenient, which means I'll have to spend a little bit more money :). There is one show stopper though...In our region, this is the rule regarding the roll cage:
2. Roll cage: Brand, Autopower Industries, Inc., model RX-7, PN 83591 made of 1-1/2” DOM material. ERW cages are grandfathered if the logbook was issued before 12/31/02. Material and construction defined by the SCCA GCR Sections 9.4.1 and 9.4.2.
My roll cage fell under the grandfather rule and is not an Autopower roll cage. What are the chances of getting this same rule appended to the region's rules?
One more thing (sorry for the chain posts). Our region has gone to the R888 Toyo's instead of the RA1. Do you guys allow the R888 to be run?
Almost welcome to the region! We moved up here 2 years ago and love it, and still can't get over the amount of racing activity in this area. Of course there is a lot of other auto acitivity too...traffic! While I don't club race, we do Solo and PDX/Track Days in our CRX/ITA car, maybe we'll race one day. We are in Northern VA which is fairly centrally located between a lot of tracks, Summit Pt., VIR, Nelson Ledges, Watkins Glen, a new New Jersey track, plus others. Summit Pt. is the main track used by the MARRS series, I think they visit 1 other during the year, Nelson Ledges this year, check the schedule.
This website and forum area is relatively new, and this forum has not quite caught on yet, or moved from the other forums, which are yahoo groups. So, not many people may read your post here. To post at yahoo, I think you have to join and be a racing driver with the MARRS-ITA forum which seems to be the most active. I would suggest contacting one of the driver's reps listed for your class on this website at the "Contact Us" link on the left or http://wdcr-scca.org/ContactUs/tabid/57/Default.aspx
Hope you choose this area and see you on track soon!
