Re: I aplogize to all racers about my last post

gm1011, many of us have gotten a bit sensitive over the years because too many have been lost due to street racing, bad decisions like drinkng and driving, etc. Too many who were lost were innocent people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We now feel that the only real way to learn, and display our skills is in a designated environment surrounded by like-minded people, and where radar guns provide useful information.

Perhaps I can offer some ideas you will find useful. There are a variety of ways to get started in racing. You can participate in PDX/Time Trials, Solo/Autocross, and other similar things that do not require a large investment in racing modification. You do need to ensure you have good tires, brakes, and your street car is in good mechanical condition. If this is what you are interested in, just say so and we can tell you who to contact. For more information, check the index on the left. I don't know much about drifting, but other do, so if this is what you want to look into, just say so. If you desire to race head to head, it will take a much larger investment in a car with additional safety equipment, starting with a roll cage. You will need equipment including a Snell approved helmet and fire resistant driver's suit. Another way, which is how I did it, is to spend time crewing and "working" a speciality. This can earn you a loan of a race car. Or you can save your pennies, dimes, and quarters and rent a race car. If crewing on a race car is something you might be interested in trying, let's start with telling us your first name and where you live. gm1011 sounds too formal.   Chris
