Malboro Reunion

On July 12-13, 2008, the Washington DC Region, SCCA will host another “Marlboro Reunion.” Veteran racers from the early days of the DC Region will be on hand to share stories about the days when roll bars were optional, we had classes A through I Production and C through I Modified (sports racers), only two Formula classes, and the time when you were prohibited from more than just a few square inches of sponsor space on your racecar! There will be displays, Straightpipes dating back to 1953, SCCA’s Sports Car magazine from 1952, photos, and movies from Marlboro, VIR, Reading Road Races, and more.

Saturday, July 12th is devoted to a vintage/competition/sports car show at Middletown, MD’s Surreybrooke Gardens, near Frederick. Sunday, July 13th is the “reunion” portion of the program.

So, if you’re not making the trip to Nelson Ledges for the MARRS events, plan to be with us for some pretty remarkable memories from the early days of the Washington DC Region, SCCA!

Full details will be available very soon. In the meantime, please feel free to contact Steve Lloyd, Regional Historian, at wdcrhistory@comcast.net or at 301-662-7302.
