Minutes: 01/05/19, 2019 Season, RRC Planning meeting, Part 2

Meeting called to order by Bob Crawford, Director of Road Racing at 8:20am with 29 attendees (sign-in sheet
provided) including 7 non-voting guests.
Crawford asks for any questions regarding information provided at the last meeting. No comments.
1.) Run Groups: options provided at the first meeting were quickly reviewed by Crawford and Liller; McLeod
states that there is a new class GTX which will run with Big Bore, Ginsberg states that most of the cars entering
in that class will be coming out of professional racing and we will most likely not see many; After much
discussion on how many groups to have, the consensus of the members is that more track time on Saturday is
what the drivers would like to see. Edmondson provided feedback from Bracket racers and they would not feel
comfortable having Big Bore placed in their group.
MOTION: from Schechter, 2nd by Olson – Combine classes into 7 MARRS groups; Discussion;
Olson rescinds 2nd. Motion does not carry.
MOTION: from Olson, 2nd by Allard – Combine classes into 8 MARRS groups; Discussion;
Amendment by Olson, 2nd by Collins - Combine classes into 8 MARRS groups with June MARRS
including an enduro.
Vote = 11 for, 2 opposed; Motion Passes
MOTION: from Edmondson, 2nd by Collins – Move Big Bore into ITA & More (add two laps to the
feature race on Sunday) move SRX7 into Small Bore; Discussion;
Vote = 14 for, 2 opposed; Motion Passes
MOTION: from Ginsberg, 2nd by Olson – Move T3 and T4 into Small Bore; Discussion;
Ginsberg rescinds motion.
MOTION: from Ginsberg, 2nd by Olson – Move STU in to ITA/Big Bore; Discussion;
Vote = 16 for, 0 opposed; Motion Passes
MOTION: from Collins, 2nd by Ginsberg – Keep the 8-group base format for MARRS 1 w/ V8RRS, adding
a 9th session for V8RRS, MARRS points awarded in V8RRS group; Discussion;
Vote = 16 for, 0 opposed; Motion Passes
MOTION: from Voissem, 2nd by Broring – Keep the 8-group base format adding an Enduro during the
June MARRS event; Discussion;
Amendment by Voissem, 2nd by Collins – make the added Enduro 90 minutes
Vote = 15 for, 1 opposed; Motion Passes

2.) MARRS Weekend Format
MOTION: from Collins, 2nd by Kelley – 12 minute qualifying sessions Saturday morning, 15 lap heat
races Saturday afternoon, 20 lap feature races Sunday; Discussion;
Vote = 12 for, 0 opposed; Motion Passes
**The weekend format will be: Saturday 12-minute qualifying followed by 15 lap heat races;
Sunday 2 hardship sessions followed by 20 lap feature races (22 laps for ITA/big bore).
Saturday starts at 0815.
MOTION: from Allard, 2nd by Levin – Reinstate time limits of races, 15 laps or 35 minutes and 20 laps or
50 minutes, do not stop the clock during black or red flags; Discussion;
Vote = 9 for, 4 opposed; Motion Tabled in the interest of time
3.) MARRS Rules
a. Class Participation Rules – No changes
b. Drivers Participation Rules
MOTION: from Collins, 2nd by Olson – Change the rule to state: half of the feature races (to be
rounded up when there is an odd number of feature races); Discussion;
Vote = 15 for, 0 opposed; Motion Passes
paragraph 3.C. should now read:
To be eligible for year-end class championship and runner-up awards, a driver
must turn a wheel in at least half of the feature races (to be rounded up when there is an odd
number of feature races) in that class during the course of the season.
c. Drops – No changes
d. Saturday points
MOTION: from Allard, 2nd by Olson – Make all Saturday races worth 150 points (home and away);
Discussion; Amendment by Allard, 2nd by Edmondson – Make all MARRS Saturday races worth 150
points (home and away) unless the Feature race has to be run on Saturday.
Vote = 14 for, 1 opposed; Motion Passes
new paragraph for section 5:
All Saturday races, regardless of their designation as heat or feature races and regardless of
venue, shall be scored as heat races (as per 5.A. above), except when the Sunday feature race
is cancelled (for any reason); when the Sunday feature race is cancelled, the Saturday race will
be scored as a feature race (as per 5.B.)
4.) Bill Scott Championship Series – vote will happen via email
