Washington DC Region SCCA Announcement From the Director of Road Racing, Washington DC Region, SCCA

Dear Road Racing Community,

Goodbye 2020 and Hello 2021! The 2020 season is one we'll not soon forget as we look forward to a better season in 2021.

Work has already begun planning for a fun and exciting season. The Washington DC Region Road Racing Committee met earlier this month to begin planning the next season and the 2021 MARRS championship, meeting notes are posted on WDCR website. We are very optimistic about the upcoming year as we plan for a season of great road racing events at Summit Point and New Jersey Motorsports Park. We will continue to collaborate with the South Jersey Region (SJR), working together to build an exciting 2021 MARRS championship. All the necessary work is not yet completed but I want to use this opportunity to share a few items we know so far.

In 2021 there will be a slight change to the order of events at the beginning of the schedule. Beginning in March we will host a US Majors Tour event followed by Racing School in early April and we'll kick off the 2021 MARRS championship at Summit Point on April 24-25th. We'll be joined at the April MARRS event by The V8 Road Racing Series (V8RRS) and Mazda Spec MX-5 Challenge Series. The April MARRS event will also be round #1 of the Northeast Division (NEDiv) Championship. All of this will make for a very exciting start to the 2021 season.

March 20-21 - US Majors Tour at Summit Point

April 2-3 (Fri/Sat) - Racing School for Competition License

April 24-25 - 2021 MARRS Championship Kickoff event at Summit Point with NeDiv, V8RRS & Mazda Spec MX-5 Challenge

For those planning to fight for a highly coveted MARRS Championship we will continue to offer the opportunity to purchase the season subscription package of entry fee credits. The season subscription offers the opportunity to buy entry fee credits for all Summit Point MARRS events up front at a significant discount. More information on this valuable offer will be made available when season subscription goes on sale in early 2021.

MARRS reserved numbers will also be available and will open in early 2021. Automatic qualification for reserved number assignment will be based on participation in the 2019 MARRS season. We are rolling the qualification plans for 2020 forward to 2021. Once automatically assigned numbers are created the pool will open for purchase of reserved numbers by those not earning automatic assignment. The MARRS reserved numbers will be in effect at MARRS Championship events at Summit Point and NJMP.

The WDCR SCCA Road Racing Committee will hold the second 2021 planning meeting in early January 2021. I am happy to report we have a full slate of driver representatives and specialty chiefs for 2021. If you would like your representative to bring something before the committee for consideration, please contact them as soon as possible. The full list of driver representatives and specialty chiefs can be found on the region website at https://www.wdcr-scca.org/contact

It has been a very interesting and challenging year; we are not out of the woods yet. Please stay safe and continue to follow the guidance of public health officials. We look forward to seeing all of you at the track in 2021.
