Restricted and Hazardous Area Access Bulletin - April 2023

Effective Immediately:

All programs and participants:

Change in access to Restricted, hazardous, or “Hot” areas has changed, Washington DC Region will not approve or issue access to the “Hot” areas to non-members or commercial entities not specifically requested to enter or assigned to those areas.

A hazardous area is defined as: “any area outside the protection of a positive barrier.” In general, only those specifically assigned will be provided appropriate ID (Wrist Band, etc.) to areas where any potential hazards exceeded those of the general public.

General spectator access will be viewed as the limitation of any non-member or commercial enterprises not relating to arrangements with the Region.

Insurance underwriters are expecting access to the areas be by trained and experienced SCCA members. Washington DC Region reserves the right to designate individual(s) for specific purposes into the areas identified as hazardous.

Each person entering a hazardous will notify the individual in charge of that zone of their presence. Those individuals are obligated to follow the instructions from the individual responsible for that zone. The chief authority in the zone involved is not obligated to allow access or may direct individuals to safer locations or leave the area.

This policy directly applies to professional photographers. Summit Point Raceway is aware of our action and in support of controlling access to the areas of concern. Others desiring access may secure approval from the Director of WDCR Road Racing Program or the Region Executive or alternative.
